Gabby Higgins ’17 will be swimming at the University of Wisconsin next year.

After a very successful four years of swimming for the East Grand Rapids Girls Swim Team, Gabby Higgins ‘17 is looking forward to continuing her swimming career at the University of Wisconsin after signing this past week.

Swimming in college is a big jump from swimming in high school, however Higgins is ready for the challenge. Higgins has been swimming since she was 8 years old.

“I always knew I wanted to swim in college,” Higgins said. “I wanted to go to Wisconsin because when I went on my trip, the entire team and all the coaches were really welcoming, encouraging and it was just an overall encouraging atmosphere,” Higgins said. However, Higgins was not just in it for the swimming.  “I also really enjoyed Madison and the school itself, which all made me want to go there,” Higgins said.

With the big jump next year into a new school, Higgins will continue her swimming career for the 11th year in a row. “I am most excited to get to study new things and meet new people. I am really looking forward to swimming with their team too,” Higgins said.

A big year ahead of her, Higgins is ready to jump into the new town, school, and experiences of college, while swimming like she always has.
