Special assistance from the referees was not needed this year. The senior girls demolished the junior girls 38-0 Wednesday night in the annual powder puff game.

Josh Rabideau, the head coach of the senior team, held three practices with his fellow coaches Hub Hejna, Johnny Southwell, and Nick Sullivan in which his players work on perfecting their offense and defense. Compared to last years practices, the coaches developed better knowledge on what the focus should be and where to develop the players.

“Our coaching was much more intense with a better understanding of our players,” Josh Rabideau ‘17 said. On the offensive end, Rabideau treated his athletes as a real football team and taught his players hand signals for each play. Defensively, the senior athletes did a good job of blocking a intercepting the junior class with the help of Nick Sullivan.

On the other hand, the junior girls Wednesday night did not end as they planned. During their practices they worked on basic plays for the offense and defense in hopes to secure a win. However, even their star players Caroline Pursley, Abby Ditmar, and Ana Grunewald, could not save the game.

“The defense tried their hardest, and I think we left it all out on the field, but offense could not pass the ball,” Zoe Zawacki ‘18 said.

Their head coach, Mike Malewitz, devastated by the loss, is already preparing for next years game and hopes his players can compare to the great performance given by the class of 2017 this year.
