Annual Yule Ball brings in hundreds of witches and wizards

Harry Potter Club transforms the high school into Hogwarts for the annual Yule Ball with more that 300 attendees

A first year enters Hogwarts through Platform Nine and Three Quarters.
Two young wizards read their letter (via owl) while Professor McGonagall addresses the students.
First up, Potions Class! Potions Master Kevin Vance, better known as East Grand Rapids Middle School’s Science teacher, demonstrates his potion making skills to an excited class.

 

One brave young witch helps Professor Vance prepare his potion.

 

Frog juice, one of the most popular ingredients in modern day potions.

 

One eager wizard raises his hand in Potions class; a classic maneuver credited to Hogwarts alumni Hermione Granger.

 

Next on their schedule is Quidditch! Grand Valley State University’s Quidditch team coaches the young witches and wizards to a goal!

 

The Green team mounts their brooms and blasts towards the opposing Blue team.

 

Quizzical young witches peer at one of the owls. John Ball Zoo staff members got to play Hagrid for the day, bringing in magical creatures such as this messenger owl.

The EGR trolley turned into the Knight Bus for a night filled with trivia and a trip around ‘Hogsmeade’.
