Winter concert season at Van Andel Arena
December 5, 2016
As the fun and hot outdoor summer concerts come to an end, Van Andel Arena begins their fall, winter, and spring concert series. Van Andel arena has seen some large name artists in the past couple months. They are continuing their impressive lineup throughout the year. Van Andel brought in big names such as Kanye West, Dierks Bentley, and Twenty One Pilots.
“I was really excited when I found out I got to go to Kanye West because I didn’t expect him to come to Grand Rapids,” said Audrey Devries ‘18. “You don’t normally see that big of a name at Van Andel.”
Van Andel will start off their fall series with the Avett Brothers, a folk rock band. The Avett Brothers will be performing songs from their 9th studio album that was released this past June. The Avett Brothers will hit the stage on Nov. 12.
“I can’t wait to see The Avett Brothers in concert. They are one of my favorite artists and I’m excited they’re coming to Grand Rapids so I can finally see them live,” said Judith May Ernst ‘18.
The next concert in the Van Andel lineup is Stevie Nicks. Stevie Nicks, a multi platinum selling artist, Grammy winner, and Fleetwood Mac Band member, will be playing alongside The Pretenders on Nov. 23.
The soft spoken Lumineers will be hitting the tour trail and will be making a stop at Van Andel. The Grammy winning band is debuting their album “Cleopatra” as the new songs move up the alternative music charts. The Lumineers will kick off their Cleopatra tour on Jan. 26.
With a large gap in the concert series, Van Andel Arena will resume in May with the famous Eric Church. Eric Church and his country music band will be playing two full sets of music with an intermission in between the two sets.
