The Lady Pioneers opened up their season on the right note with a 16-4 victory over Caledonia. Auden Barger-Elliott ‘16 lead the team with 5 goals and 2 assist en route to the rout of the Lady Scots. Freshman Audrey Whiteside added a goal in her first career varsity appearance. “It was pretty nerve-racking but super exciting! Scoring a goal was awesome, and I am glad I was able to help the team out,” this is what Whiteside ‘16 said regarding her nerves and success of her first varsity game.
The girls continued their success last weekend when they headed on the road to a tournament in Birmingham going a perfect 3-0 for the weekend. This was a huge success for the young team looking forward to the long road to the State Championship.
Last week the girls took on the Rockford Rams in arguably their largest competition during this year’s regular season. The game was neck and neck throughout its play. With 4 minutes to go the Lady Pioneers were down, until goalie Rebecca Scobell pitched a shutout for the last four minutes allowing the team to mount a comeback and take down Rockford. The girls look to continue their conference title streak to six games, and the state championship to a streak of five.
