Girls Swimming riding a big win

Girls Swimming is starting off strong this season with a big win at the West Michigan Relays. Although they moved up to Division 2 and now face tougher competition, this year’s team isn’t holding back from taking first place at their meets. In fact, this past weekend they beat last year’s Division 1 state champions—Rockford.
¨It was against multiple teams and we beat Rockford for the first time in seven years,¨ Olivia Grogan ‘20 said.
The team performed well and took the victory with standout performances from Ileah Doctor ´18 and Laura Levine ‘19.
“We all swam with incredible passion and pulled off the win,” Levine explains. “Beating Rockford this past weekend was a huge success for our team, and proves we can compete with the best.”
While the team is filled with talented swimmers, what makes the Lady Pios so successful is the dynamic within their group.
“Some strengths [of the team] are definitely the relationships between the people,” Grogan said.
And due to these positive relationships and hard work, the team continued their success at their most recent meet on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Forest Hills. The swimmers faced the combined team of Forest Hills Northern and Eastern, yet the competition proved not to be a challenge for the team as they took home the victory.
