About midway through the season, the boys water polo team finds themselves in an interesting spot. With a talented roster and great senior leadership, their losing record may at first glance seem disappointing, but the boys themselves remain confident. With the depth and talent of this team, consisting of star players Elliot Adams ‘18, Nick Hein ‘18, Christian Bayer ‘18, Christian Bart, Zach Sprague ‘19, they are good enough to compete with just about anyone. Their struggle, however, comes in closing out close games, which has resulted in the majority of their losses thus far.

The team does not look as these tight losses as failures, but rather evidence to their incredible potential and opportunities to learn and progress as the games get more and more meaningful. “We’ve gotten better from all the close games because the experience is valuable and we bind together as a unit,” Elliot Adams ‘18 said. “Closing out games and scoring goals on offense are definitely our main goals moving forward. We’ve been working alot on that in practice.”

With the playoffs on the horizon, the boys are looking “to start closing out some close games” Adams said, in order to start finding themselves on the winning end of the nail biters that they have become so accustomed to. Stay tuned, it should be an exciting end of the season for boys water polo.
