High expectations for Girls Swim and Dive

The Girls Swim and Dive Team has high expectations to live up to this upcoming season. They are coming off of a great season that they topped off with another state title. Here at East the swim team has a history of winning and they plan to keep that up this season by chasing another title.

“[Their goals are] that most of the team qualifies and we take first again,” Olivia Grogan ‘20 said.

The team obviously has high hopes this year even with the fact that they lost some very talented seniors last year. The girls still believe they can produce the same result with some of their new talent this year.

“The number of juniors and seniors on the team is smaller than usual, but there are a lot of new freshman who are all very talented,” Grogan said.

The incoming freshman class is looking like it is filled with fast swimmers who are being praised by the upperclassmen and maybe even able to compensate for the outgoing seniors last year.

“Although we lost some amazing senior swimmers, the freshman are an exceptional addition to the team,” Ella Pietenpol ‘20 said.

With lots of incoming freshman adding plenty of talent to the team, there is a lot of potential for this season. They are looking forwards to the season and are hoping to get yet another state title to bring back home to EGR.
