The final stretch of the crew season has come and passed by, as they just finished their last regatta. The big end of the season regatta was the Leelanau Chase Regatta in northern Michigan. The team did very well overall, especially compared to some larger schools from Ann Arbor.

“We had a lot of boats place very well,” Bella Olsen ‘20 said.

The Women’s Novice 4+ placed 2nd overall and the HS Men’s JV 4+ also placed 2nd overall. Many of the other boats also placed very highly in their races.

“This season wasn’t particularly rewarding in terms of results, but we have a great group of novices that have gained a lot of skill along with the rest of the team,” Olsen ‘20 said.

Reviewing the overall season, even though the team may not have seen the results they were looking for, they have still gained a lot of memories from it and become a stronger team.

“This year the team has been much more unified in terms of novice and varsity, especially on the girls side, which is great because it creates a stronger bond between everyone and creates a even more welcoming environment,” Olsen ‘20 said.

Crew is also a very unique sport because it is a fall and spring sport. However, the training is non-stop. Even though the team may just have ended their fall season, winter training is coming around the corner very quickly to get the team prepared for the upcoming spring season.

The ability for a team to participate in two seasons together creates a unique bond unlike any other sport because of the amount of time spent together.
