Junior Jillian Brown verbally committed to play basketball for the Northwestern University Wildcats in a tweet this afternoon. “I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to Northwestern University!” Brown’s tweet read. The 11th-ranked Northwestern women’s basketball team won the Big Ten regular-season title this past year and were on their way to the NCAA tournament before all NCAA championships were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Brown, along with her sister Macy Brown, ‘23, led the Pioneers to a 22-1 record, a district title and a berth in the regional finals against West Ottawa before the cancellation of the tournament for safety reasons as a result of the coronavirus.
