The East Grand Rapids Soccer Team beat Grand Rapids Christian 2(6)-2(5) after penalty kicks. Nolan Hunter, ’21 and Cam Douglas, ’21 scored in regulation for the Pioneers, who went up 1-0 early, before conceding two quick goals after halftime. Douglas got the ball over the line for EGR late in regulation to send the game to overtime. After a scoreless extra period, the game went to penalty kicks. In the penalty shootout, Jonah Bishop’22, Ben Borak, ’23, Filipo Verduzio, ’21, Peter Cannon, ‘23 and Micah Daniels, ’23, all scored their kicks to win East the district championship and move on to regionals where they will face the winner of the Cadillac-Petosky game tonight.
