With the season starting, the team begins to work toward adding another title to the Hall of Cham- pions. “Our main goal as of now is just to rebuild the starting positions that we’ve lost and keep our focus towards hopefully bringing home a 5th state title,” Captain Kelly Malewitz ‘16 said.

Last year, out of the 10 players out on the field, seven of them were seniors. “It’s going to take some work but between all four grades we have the talent” Malewitz said about this years team,“ I think that after we get used to the new dynamics of our team we’ll be able to main- tain the same strength as previous years.”

The pressure to win a fifth State title in a row is on, but the team feels optimistic that they can accomplish this feat. “There’s a lot of pressure but I think we are a deep enough team and have the talent to bring home a fifth,” Malewitz said.

In recent years, the team has been unstoppable during the regular season. This has allowed the team to seek games against teams from other states, bringing a challenge to the team. However, this year the team faces an in-state challenge, Rockford High School.“ Our toughest competition is probably going to be against Rockford or our out of state game against Loyola,”Malewitz said.
