The EGR Girls Varsity Soccer team is working hard to gear up for this upcoming season. As they fell short to Grosse Pointe North in the state finals last year, they are ready to work hard and win redemption this spring.
“I am really excited to see how far the team goes this year,” Priya Patra ‘25, a returning player, said. “The team environment has been really great and everyone is really nice and works well together.”
The success of the team begins with the connections, you need to be able to work well together to improve and succeed.
“The team chemistry is really good this year,” Gracie Lynn ‘26, a returning player said.
With pre-season wrapping up and the first few games coming up at the end of March, the soccer team is ready to begin their victorious mindset at practice.
“The team environment is very fun and very focused, we work very hard at practice but we also enjoy it and we have fun,” Addi Storrs ‘26, a new varsity player, said.
For a lot of team sports, the loss of graduating seniors is sometimes really taxing on their team connection.
“On our team, there are a lot of returning players from last year as we only lost four
seniors so a lot of people know each other already which is good,” Lynn said.
Players on the soccer team have the collective goal of making it to the state championship and winning. However, the players need to have their individual goals as well.
“My goals are just to do well in practice and support my team and just to hope that we do well in the playoffs,” Storrs said.
With the soccer team’s practice and coordination, it is likely that the group will reach their goal of the state championship game. The determined players are on the track to win another mitten for the school and a title for their hard work.
“I just try to remember to focus on one game at a time,” Lynn said.
