The title is not deceiving, Calder Stanley is the man who made Senior Retreat. And so much more. Through a series of unexpected Karaoke performances, this unknown entertainer wowed the entirety of the 2026 class and brought up spirits after a thunderstorm took away the chance to swim. Morale was low, and little did everyone know how one man could bring the energy back up.
Apart from his performance, Stanley is a fascinating individual with equally fascinating interests.
“One of my interests is urban design. I love learning about the cities we live in, how they’re designed, and the rules. It all has an effect on the standard of living,” Stanley, “26 said.
There aren’t many high school students who would say one of their most favored interests is urban design and studying maps. Or bikes. Stanley also knows a great deal about bikes. After giving a detailed and technical description of his own bike, as well as other types, it was clear that he has extensive knowledge when it comes to two-wheeled transportation.
“And I bike. I like biking a lot. The senior parking lot is annoying, especially because my brother likes to take his sweet time in the morning, so we always end up getting stuck in traffic.”
During the senior retreat specifically, Stanley performed “Don’t Stop Believing’,” a well-known and catchy song that the whole grade was able to enjoy. Apart from this, he’s actually got a fairly wide variety of music he enjoys.
“I really like City Pop, if you don’t know what that is, it’s, like, 90s, 80s Japanese songs,” or “The fine print by Mr. Stupendium, It’s a one joke on like, corporate America,” or even “ 20s, 30s, and 40s music that most people probably wouldn’t know.”
Stanley also has a good sense of humor. This was clear when asked about his schedule, and he replied, “Then I go to lunch, and I’m absolutely amazing in that class.” Or when asked how his friends would describe him. Short and bluntly, he stated, “Ask them.” A pretty funny and witty response to this commonly asked question.
He didn’t leave his answer there, though, “I don’t know how they would describe me. I do try not to make enemies and everything. Yeah, might as well not piss anyone off.”
In all, Calder Stanley is a very interesting man who can entertain in multiple different ways. Even just from a short 6-minute interview, Stanley can push people to think about things that they’ve never given a second thought. Amongst how cities are organized, bike parts, and music. He is a very interesting person, with many interesting talents and passions.
