Boys tennis ends season on a high note
Competitiveness and high skill levels are two contributing factors to the Boys Tennis team’s success this year. According to Scott VanDrunen ‘18, success is what this fall season has been all about.
“If I had one word to describe our season it would be success,” VanDrunen said. “We were successful in our matches, but also in having fun.”
Their success is clear in their record, winning 15 out of their 18 matches. Compared to VanDrunen’s freshman year, they are doing much better. Along with many freshmen on the team playing at a high level, their triumphs have also been due to a wave team-wide motivation.
“One thing that surprised me this year is the eagerness from all the players and the competition that is shown by players trying to move up in the lineup,” VanDrunen said. “I have seen growth from a few kids really stepping up and playing well, especially Will Zinser ‘20.”
Although the season is coming to a close, the players are content with how the season fared and look back fondly on their successful results during the season.
“Our last event of the season was Tuesday. The tennis season is short but sweet. I think we are the first sport officially over for the fall,” VanDrunen said. “Throughout the season, it has been fun bonding with the team and playing competitively with our own team and the other teams.”
The Boys Tennis team landed third in MLive’s Division 3 Rankings, with a record of 15-18.
