Kai Benedikt Fitz, 15, of East Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly March 14 afternoon from a recently discovered brain tumor.

He was kind-hearted, compassionate, and thoughtful. Kai improved the lives of many around him and will forever be remembered for his positivity and love for life.

Kai will always be in the memories of his parents Sabine and Dale Fitz, sister Kyra, grandparents Helen and Don Fitz, Helga and Harald Schmidt, and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Students honored Kai’s life by wearing his favorite color pink and leaving notes and decorations on his locker.

A memorial was held at the Grand Rapids Yacht Club on Sunday, March 25.

Kai loved art and animals, specifically turtles, and donations can be made in Kai’s name to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and to the Sea Turtle Conservancy.
