Ghost hunting with Lily Kate Rogers
If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call? Lily Kate Rogers! While LK Rogers ‘19 admits that ghost busters is not an accurate portrayal of spirits of the dead, she is an avid ghost hunter.
Rogers said she first started her ghost hunting hobby because “I’ve always liked scary things and ghost hunting shows, and when people watched it for fun, thinking it was all a joke and not really believing in it, I figured i’d set out to try and prove them wrong.”
“One of my favorite places to go is Fulton Street Cemetery. There’s a lot of activity there, although it’s not common that a dead spirit would haunt a graveyard because that’s not where they passed away, but sometimes they do,” Rogers said in reference to her favorite ghost hunting locations.
Rogers’ ghost hunting tools consist of an “EFM meter” which tells of when there is a given amount of paranormal activity within a certain vicinity, and “dowsing rods,” which give signals to answer questions asked aloud by the ghost hunter. “I’ll just start asking questions, and sometimes I’ll get a spike on my EMF or the dowsing rods will work,” Rogers said.
Although there may be many doubters, it doesn’t stop Rogers from pursuing her interest in the supernatural. “Sometimes you can just like, feel the presence,” said Rogers, and that’s hard to ignore.
