Girls Basketball dribbles their way to a 11-3 record

The girls basketball team is bouncing back from last season after a loss at the district semifinals. With a record of 11-3 and 5-2 in conference play, they are looking forward to a successful rest of their season.

This team is looking to keep their record up, and that is only possible by how well they work together on the court.

“I believe if we keep playing how we are playing right now we will make it to states,” Mollie Brandstadt ‘25 said. “We just need to keep up the team chemistry, focus, and work hard together every day.”

If the girls make it to states, they would get the chance to play at the Michigan State Basketball Arena, Breslin Center. This is a huge opportunity for the team and it is not an easy task.

“I have high hopes everyone wants to make it to Breslin, so I just hope that we can continue on our path and make that happen,” Claire Weaver ‘23 said.

Although making it to Breslin is their goal, it does not come without hard work and challenges.

“We play GRC and Lowell in our next games,” MC Millman ‘25 said. “These two games are very important to us considering they are in our conference.”

From three-point shots to lay-ups, every step has to be on point. There is always room for improvement to maximize their potential on the court.

“Going forward we will need to make sure we continue getting high numbers of rebounds on offense
and defense, and improve the number of shots we finish at the rim,” Weaver said.

This team’s success wouldn’t be possible without being such a close-knit team. Having a strong bond between them helps them immensely

“My favorite part about being on this team is the way we care for each other both on the court when mistakes are made, and off,” Avery Leete ‘25 said.

Being so close to each other off the court truly helps the team on the court. A lot of their connections
come from friendships and only amplify their skills as a team on the court.

“We’re a very close team and we have a great bond, which I believe helps us when we play because we build chemistry,” Brandstadt said, “we all enjoy being around each other which makes it easy to be with them every day.”

The future for this team is looking very bright, and with their hard work and team spirit, they should be able to reach their goals in no time.
