Whether it’s night or morning, you’ll find the East Grand Rapids Crew team working hard on Reeds Lake. This season Crew was given the unique opportunity to compete in The Head Of Charles, a very well-known regatta held in Boston, Massachusetts. Although both the men’s and women’s teams came up short of the first-place finish, both teams performed impressively. Both teams have very strong mindsets that allow them to succeed. Grit, determination, and technique are all strong suits for the whole program. The team attributes the supportive, yet fun environment of the program to their winning ways.
“I really love my team. Many of the girls on the team are very supportive which always makes being together as a team so much more enjoyable,” Anna Stolle ‘26 said.
Having this supportive environment makes it easier for the team to cooperate and unify during their races.
“The crew team is unique because we are all forced to work together as one unit. We all have to work together to improve the boat as well as our race times. It really brings us closer with one another,” Zack Wurl ‘26 said.
Through their successful regattas and hard work, they are able to spend time as a team and bond with one another.
“We all hang out and cheer each other on as a team. It’s basically a day of rowing and hanging out together which is always really fun,” Wurl said.
After a rewarding fall season, they look forward to improving more in the future and continuing to push themselves.
