The Boys’ Varsity Golf Team is in full swing as spring weather rolls around. The game of golf consistently calls for warm temperatures and a nice breeze. Although the weather is not always ideal, this doesn’t stop the boys from continuing to work hard.
“This season is going to be different than last season because I think we have a better team this year with a little more experience than we did before,” Henry Pratt ‘25 said.
With increasing talent on the team, this year’s tryouts were more competitive. Many great underclassmen had the potential to make the varsity team.
“This year’s tryouts were very dramatic and competitive. There were an unexpected number of people trying out for the few spots available,” Pratt said.
The team has a lot of years of experience, especially with seven seniors on the team this season. They also have some underclassmen talent coming in the form of freshman Henry Seufert ‘27 and JP Levan ‘27.
“It’s gonna be fun to get to know everyone better and dial in, I’m excited to get mentored by some of the upperclassmen and be part of the team,” Levan said
The team is always looking for new things to improve, as each player drives to achieve their own personal best. They plan to step up and work even harder than previous seasons, especially since the team will face a lot of competition this year. With Grand Rapids Christian as a big rival, the team hopes to come back on top.
“ I think keeping a positive attitude and mindset on the course is a huge factor in playing well. Currently, none of us are in mid-season form but we will be grinding towards that and will hopefully get there soon,” Levan said.
As the team continues to work hard, it is crucial that they stay dedicated to their own goals as well as the team as a whole.
The Boys’ Varsity Golf Team has high expectations for themselves and the spring season ahead. The boys will do what it takes to make it to the state tournament. The push towards states definitely won’t be easy, but they are willing to continue to work hard.
