Forty-nine girls and fifty jerseys, the Girls’ Field Hockey Team has almost reached its full capacity, but not its full potential. They are, however, getting there. With flows of new freshmen and undeniable team chemistry, the Field Hockey team is flourishing, a surprising occurrence so early in the season.

“In the previous years we’ve been known to lose most of our games but this year, we’ve won at least half the games we’ve played,” Caroline Bell ‘18, Varsity captain and strong defensive player said. “We’ve had just a bunch of wins because this year we’ve had a lot more players come in.”

The addition of fresh faces with previous team chemistry is giving the team a sense of camaraderie they’ve never experienced before.

“This year I’ve really noticed that our whole team is gelling together for passing and we just know each other this year,” Bell said. “Something about this year is just clicking with the whole team. We are just getting a lot of variety in how we play our games and overall, as a team, we’ve gotten a lot stronger.”

Not only is the Varsity team excelling but their success has carried down to the Junior Varsity team as well.

“We’re all very passionate about the sport,” Grace Griemsman ‘20 said. “The freshmen have been working together also for a while previous [to this season] so we all kind of know what we’re doing.”

The Girls Field Hockey team has been extremely successful, but they’re not stopping there. They are determined to work harder and get better.

“It’s like pretty cool to see that our team is starting to grow,” Bell said. “We’re doing a lot better this year and we’re hoping that we do as good next year or even better.”Want to witness their unseen success in person?
