Spring musical “Grease” begins rehearsals

The beloved Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko are being brought to life this April 27, 28, and 29 as the EGRHS drama department puts on the spring musical “Grease.”

“Auditions were Feb. 6,7, and 8. There are three separate auditions that everybody has to attend to show how well they can sing, act, and dance” Paige Lang ‘18 said.

Lang, who is playing Patty Simcox, is joined by 32 other EGRHS students for the making of the musical.

Following auditions are callbacks, in which director Pamela Steers chooses specific students read, sing, or dance again, in order to see them again before distributing the parts in the musical. Then, that Saturday, the cast list was posted on the drama board, outside the little auditorium.

“This year the cast list was posted later than usual. It is usually posted on Friday after school following auditions, but the cast and crew of the one act play asked Mrs. Steers to push it back so that they won’t be thinking about the Grease cast list during their performance on Friday, Feb. 8” Lang said.

The musical will be lead by Natalie Regan ‘18 as Sandy, and Andrew Playford ‘17 as Danny. Rehearsals began on Monday, Feb. 13, and will continue up until April.

“I’m really excited for the production because this is my first time being apart of a production in the drama department. Everyone is so nice and incredibly talented” Olivia Byam ‘18 said.

The cast and crew are looking forward to bringing Rydell High to EGRHS this April.
