Senior Spring Break
Senior spring break: a trip every high schooler looks forward to. “A pro of a big spring break trip is you always have something to do and friends to make great memories with,” Lizzie Lundeen ‘22 said.
“I think the advantages are getting to be surrounded by a big group of people and having fun with everyone,” Sophie Williams ‘22 said.
This trip is something that students look forward to, as graduation is just over a month away. “I wouldn’t necessarily say I was pressured, but it was something I had planned on doing for a long time, I think I would feel some fomo if I didn’t go with my friends on spring break,” Williams said. Fear of missing out(FOMO) is a term that can be connotated around this anticipation.
“This year I’m lucky enough to be able to go with my friends but last year I couldn’t go with friends because of basketball and I definitely felt a little bit of FOMO,” Lundeen said. Instead of traveling with friends one might want to go with family, however this fear can cause people to go with friends just to not be left out. “Personally, I won’t feel any FOMO because I love spending time with my family and I know that going with my family will be what’s best for me,” Kira Freng ‘23 said. Freng is happy she gets to spend the last semester of highschool traveling with her family.
“A con to a big spring break is having less alone time, it’s definitely more go go go and less relaxing!” Lundeen said. “I don’t feel pressured to go with a big group, everything just kind of fell into place and it turned into there being a larger group!”
It seems seniors are ready for some fun,“I’ve done a lot of traveling with my family throughout my life and it’s definitely fun but traveling with friends is definitely more fun,” Lundeen said. As seniors reminisce over their time together they can do it at the beach, and in the sun. They can’t wait to get out and “experience something other than East Grand Rapids for a second,” Ethan Stark ‘22 said.
