If you’ve ever walked past someone vigorously belting the Star Bangled Banner at 8 Am, do not fret. Just look around the hallway in between Mr. Kawel and Mrs. Michell’s class and there you will find her.
This amazing voice ricocheting throughout the halls is none other than EGRHS’s Mrs. Edleman. Her bright, bubbly personality exudes joy and laughter into otherwise dull mornings.
After 32 years of teaching AP Literature, Freshman Honors English, and Sophomore Honors English, Mrs. Edleman has brought so much fun and learning to the Hallways of EGR and her classes.
“My favorite class to teach is AP literature, but my favorite thing about teaching is watching my students grow and improve,” Edleman said.
Beyond blessing the hallways with her vocals, Mrs. Edleman has been making class, and the school in general, a more fun place to be. She’s known for the positivity and energy that she brings to class every single day. She has created an environment where students feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn.
“Every single morning, the positivity that she brings into the classroom revives everyone from the depths of their tiredness, and wakes us up with a positive attitude and readiness to learn.” Callen Bishop ’26 said.
Of course, teaching for years has to come with countless unforgettable memories. “My favorite memory has been when Katie Michell pranked me on my birthday. She put a walkie talkie into my ceiling and started making noises throughout the day,” Edleman said.
Outside of school, Mrs. Edleman has big dreams for her future. “I want to be an alpaca rancher, somewhere up north with at least three alpacas,” When she’s not planning her future ranching career, Mrs. Edelman’s favorite thing to do is to eat, but also travel. And of course to eat, when she is traveling. But her favorite food will always be her mothers lasagna.
Apart from teaching how to analyze poetry, write stronger essays, and decipher Shakespeare, the 32 years she has spent teaching will keep on impacting her students. Mrs. Edelman’s voice will continue to echo through EGR, not just in song, but in the confidence and joy she has instilled in each and every one of the students lucky enough to sit in her classroom.
